205119 Pte. John Hare British Army 12th Btn. Northumberland Fusiliers from:Choppington, Northumberland (d.27th Sep 1915) John Hare was my great great uncle. He was born in 1876, one of seven children, the 3rd eldest,son of John & Elizabeth Hare. He had a number of siblings (in age order) Henry, Samuel, Mary Ann, Francis (my great grandmother), Aaron & Elizabeth. John Hare was married to Margaret and lived in Choppington, Northumberland. He was killed in France on 27th September 1915 and is remembered on the Loos Memorial. His brother Aaron also died in WW1 on 29th March 1918 aged 32 years as a member of the 1st Btn. Northumberland Fusiliers, service No.777 He is remembered on the Arras Memorial. Additional information from family member, Barbara: John was my great grandfather. He was killed at the battle of Loos. I was named after his daughter.
